Pod #17 — COVID-19 Will Wreck Fantasy Football Lineup Decisions

Welcome to the 17th Fantasy Sports Collective Podcast episode. This episode is a quick hit on how, if we’re fortunate enough to have the NFL return this fall, COVID-19 will make fantasy football lineup decisions difficult. I also talk about how Roger Goodell’s Q score is on the rise and question why the US professional sports leagues are suffering while our European & Asian neighbors are back at it.

Let me first state there are far far more serious things going on in the world. However sports are a diversion from life’s trials & tribulations. A necessary escape, entertainment that gives us hope and satisfaction.

Fantasy football 🏈 participants will face a difficult dilemna this fall. COVID, the coronavirus, spreads rapidly. A negative test on Friday can turn into a dozen positive tests come Sunday morning. Clemson discovered 23 of its players tested positive on Friday, the NBA disclosed their protocols for return last week. What this means is the NFL will undoubtedly have expanded rosters and flexibility on gameday active lists to account for increased positive virus tests. This means fantasy football lineup decisions will be more erratic and require more gameday attention than ever before.

What does this mean for you and your league? Get creative, you can either adjust to allow for easier pickups and/or expanded rosters to ensure teams aren’t left with inactive starters or frustrate your league members.
