Pod #18 — Anatomy of a 30+ Year Old Super Flex Dynasty Fantasy Football League

Welcome to the 18th episode of the Fantasy Sports Collective Podcast hosted by JayDubb. This episode is a look deep into what has bound a 30+ year league through a quest to be the most sophisticated fantasy league in the world, a Superflex, dynasty format, and the ever-expanding manual that governs the rules.
I am joined by guest Los Frijoles Pintos, aka Tadlock, to discuss the history of the fantasy football league manual, and the glue that keeps it together, the manual. We’ll dissect the rules, and highlight how to supercharge your fantasy league.
You can see the manual in its infinite glory here, however the one strong recommendation, regardless of the sophistication of your league, is to incorporate the “super flex” rule. This enables a flex spot to include a 2nd QB in your starting lineup. This does several positive things that more mimic real life AND expand enjoyment of the faux football. By adding a 2nd starting QB option you make the position have value, versus in a 1 QB league, it’s only slightly above tight end and kicker. Which is a travesty given its the most valuable position in all of sports — and NFL team’s prove that by paying more to their QB than any other position on their team (sans teams with rookie/young QB’s who haven’t reached their full market value). Specifically though don’t you want to start more players who are actively involved in the game, thus enabling you to have another player in your starting lineup who touches the ball on every offensive snap?
