The Shifting Eagles QB Narrative

A month ago we all we’re talking about Chase Daniel’s as a legitimate threat to Sam Bradford, and to a greater extent questioning why the Eagles would spend $36M guaranteed over the next two years on “just” two guys.

Well the explanation came today, they had a bigger vision. They calculated their way up from #13 to #8 then finally #2. The projection is they’ll take rawer but higher upside QB Carson Wentz. The puzzle pieces are falling into place. Bradford or Daniel will hold down the fort this year; in an ideal world one of them steps up and excels, propelling the Eagles to the playoffs while keeping Wentz on the bench until ’18. In that scenario they potentially also recoup picks by re-establishing Bradford’s value; likely keeping Daniel as a strong backup and hedge on the rookie.

The narrative has shifted, the story makes more sense. The only question will take a few years to answer; is Wentz and this approach the right one for the Eagles?
